Bourbaki - Bourbaki
dynamic & unpredictable improvisations from the quartet of Joe Musgrove, Brian Bird, Lloyd Barrett & Andrew Thomson, recorded 23/02/01. Instrumentation: computer, tapes, electronics, sax, guitar, keyboards, voice, bicycle pump, turntables. Originally released without the knowledge of 3/4 of the group in tiny edition on deliberatly obscurantist Brisbane lable Serbsky Institute. This review is from http://spazioinwind.libero.it/extremes/touchingLP.htm: "self produced CDR from these Australian outsiders. It's not easy classifying this kind of music and I simply refuse to do it; think about electroacoustic free improvisation, but not as in the laptop scene or in the free jazz realm, this is a virtually unknown world that just begs to be discovered. No one knows what to expect here, as calm sections and almost spacey areas give room to extreme noise and distorted sounds, both from vocal and instrumental origin. I could compare this to the music that a broken hard disk would spit out if able to play like a human being; everything sounds at the same time extremist and perfectly natural, just like flashing lightning in storms. Who cares about hi or lo-fi when ideas flow so unadulterated? I smell functioning brains here, that's more than enough for me!"
